Mark H. Young

Mark H. Young

President, True Real Estate Hawaiʻi | Appraisal-trained counsel for consequential property decisions across Oʻahu

Honolulu, Hawaiʻi, United States

The advisor who sees beneath the listing.

Mark’s defensible authority is not access to inventory. It is the combination of Kāneʻohe-rooted place knowledge, finance training, appraisal discipline, brokerage leadership, and a long client-recognition record.

Make the reasoning behind consequential property decisions visible before a prospect ever needs an agent.

About

A property can be beautiful and still be the wrong decision. My job is to know the difference—and to make the reasoning clear before a client puts anything important at risk.

I was born and raised in Kāneʻohe, graduated from Hawaiʻi Baptist Academy and the University of Hawaiʻi, and began my career applying a finance education to commercial and residential appraisal. Valuation taught me to look beneath presentation: understand the land, test the assumptions, study the downside, and listen closely enough to learn what a client is really trying to protect.

At 33, I founded True Real Estate Hawaiʻi. Pacific Business News dates the company’s beginning to 2017. I now advise first-time buyers, growing and downsizing families, sellers, developers, and investors across Oʻahu. The assignments change. The standard does not: local fluency, disciplined analysis, resilient negotiation, and service that remains personal when the decision becomes complicated.

Company-published records list repeated True Real Estate Top Producer honors and Aloha ʻĀina recognition across multiple years; the award accepts nominations from the public at large. HONOLULU Magazine recognition is supported by a documented 2013 reader-research methodology, which should not be projected onto other years without their methods. I treat that record as a prompt for verification and continued service—not a reason to coast on it.

Four ways the story creates relevance

Move-up families

AudienceOʻahu households coordinating a sale and purchase

TensionTiming, carrying cost, contingencies, and community fit make one move feel like five interlocking decisions.

Editorial moveShow the sequencing: the decision tree, leverage points, preventable risks, and the human priority beneath each term.

Designed outcomeQualified seller and buyer conversations built on judgment rather than listing spectacle.

Prospective sellers

AudienceOwners deciding whether to sell, renovate, wait, or rent

TensionGeneric valuations hide preparation cost, condition, basis, and the consequences of getting the sequence wrong.

Editorial movePublish appraisal-informed seller memos that explain which facts change value—and which improvements merely photograph well.

Designed outcomeValuation consultations and listings from owners already aligned with Mark’s analytical approach.

Property investors

AudienceLocal and returning investors evaluating risk-adjusted opportunity

TensionThe view and projected upside can eclipse insurance, capex, permitting, condition, and a defensible entry basis.

Editorial moveTurn anonymized deal anatomy into repeatable diligence education: what the listing omits, what the downside reveals, and what would change the answer.

Designed outcomeInvestment conversations in which rigor is the product—not a decorative layer added after selection.

Referral partners

AudienceAttorneys, lenders, wealth advisors, and former clients

TensionA broad ‘top realtor’ identity does not tell a referrer which complicated situations Mark is best equipped to handle.

Editorial moveGive the network concise referral triggers supported by case-pattern proof and a recognizable decision philosophy.

Designed outcomeMore precise introductions and fewer low-fit inquiries.

Individualized content engine

Every piece should reveal a consequential fact the listing alone cannot explain.

One weekly decision note, one twice-monthly visual case study, one monthly Oʻahu interpretation, and one quarterly long-form transaction anatomy.
